I fear that the threshold for declaring an emergency is reaching dangerous lows. Couple frequent emergency declarations with "temporary" suspensions of constitutional rights and we have anarchy. Not good.

The poster child for this abuse is the Washington State legislature that puts an "emergency" tag on every piece of important leg they push. The reason? If it's tagged as an "emergency" then the public doesn't get a chance to weigh in via statewide referendum.
