The solution is obvious, but politically untenable - raise taxes.

That said, I've started to see signs in small ma and pa restaurants stating that prices charged on some items may be higher than the signage states. This brings back memories from the 70's and 80's of restaurants who, rather than reprint their vinal menus each week, had masking tape over the price column with the price du jour of each item hand written on top.

I suspect that there is a reason why the BLS is not making a report this month - and it doesn't have anything to do with the government shutdown last month.
