I saw a program on after-football. I think it was Ken Otto required half an hour just to get out of bed because of knee problems. They also discussed TBIs, and I think it was a Seahawk linebacker that killed himself possibly due to TBI.

Junior Seau, I believe. An AF poster (sano?) bought his surf board.

While we are on the topic of savagery, ESPN used to have a show called Jacked Up! where they would top five biggest hits of the week and scream "JACKED UP!" when a player would get creamed. Which is pretty bad just on its own.

In hit #3 in this video, the hit player crumples to the ground and raises his arms. The announcer yells "Just look at his arms up and you know he got'JACKED UP!"

Indeed, he got jacked up. That arm motion is called a fencing response, which is an involuntary reaction to being concussed. Not really something that should be

The sport has gotten less savage and ESPN has canceled Jacked Up! since the CTE issue came around. But there is still some work to do. This season QB Tua Tagovailoa was hit after throwing the ball. He gets up, begins to stagger and falls to the ground (about the 25 second mark). He was taken off the field and examined, and the team concluded he had a back injury. The number of people who believed that is very close to, if not actually zero. He was concussed again later in the season and this time the team wisely kept him off the field for the rest of the season.
