Being friendly and gracious to Mamdani means that when Trump does bring the hammer down--and he will--it's "nothing personal."

Maybe Trump remembered he ran as a populist, like Mamdani. As Trump has shown his "JC" teeth, his poll ratings have fallen. Some of the comments MTG made, announcing her resignation, had a whiff of the split in the GOP between the populists and the "everything for the JCs" faction. So embrace Mamdani, and play the populist again?
