Trump seems to be "high on his own supply", and convinced that the EU will lay down and take whatever he feels like dishing out, to maintain access to the US market. I'm sure that is what all his underlings are telling him. That is why he put those people in place. The honchos at a couple places I worked were equally confident they were perfect and always right.
