I disagree with this. It has been widely reported they also wanted more funding for medicaid, and the "new" Peters proposal drops the medicaid portion and only asks for ACA subsidies.

If we believe GOP positioning relative to the original $1.5T ask, the republicans would be idiots to reject the latest proposal, but all indications are they will. I suspect the $1.5T positioning is to make it look like a concession is actually a win.
