Berkshire had a bit of an ethics/judgement lapse they had to deal with about 15 years ago. David Sokol didn't disclose that he had a ~$10m stake in Lubrizol which Berkshire bought and ended up netting him about ~$3m.
That's pretty much throw 'em in jail, by my reckoning, but that didn't happen. Now, did Buffett really come down on him mercilessly (as he has promised, should any of his leaders lose a shred of reputation)? No, as he's very conflict avoidant.
