Perhaps you recognize a slight disconnect between

1. Trump speaking about stopping foreign adventures (while still on the campaign trail) and

2. Trump speaking about starting wars based on a tantrum over not getting the Nobel peace prize (while in office).

Cognitive dissonance is rarely recognized by the person exhibiting the symptoms. It is such an exhibition of irrationality that the ego will go into overdrive to protect itself.
