Subject: BRK, MKL, ???, ???
We own shares in BRK and MKL. We nearly bought into Allegheny a few years ago as it had the features listed below. The following is a crowd sourcing question for this esteemed board:
Do you know of other publicly traded companies small, medium or large having similar characteristics to Berkshire and Markel? The salient characteristics are:
1. Demonstrated reinvestment of funds generated by operations and/or, say, insurance float, at high ROE performance over a long period
2. Management predominately buying their own stock rather than selling
3. Management having the discipline to strike when the world is fearful and to not buy when the world is greedy.
4. In short, companies run headed by and run by C-suites in the manner of Berkshire and Markel.
I welcome any company names based in the USA or abroad. A future Teledyne in the making would be nice, but a maturing Markel-like company would similarly be appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions.
