That's why I merely said it was insanely unlikely, not that I had knowledge of the terms of the agreement.

It's with the head of NATO. Not with anyone who has actual jurisdiction over Greenland, not with any European governmental entity, not with Greenland itself. With NATO. NATO doesn't have the power to give Trump any rights in Greenland that NATO - the organization that implements the military alliance and not a country or government - already possesses.

And there's virtually no chance that NATO wouldn't give one of its member militaries, especially the U.S., accommodations on something NATO has control over.

Honestly, since this came from NATO and not from anyone that has any real authority over Greenland, I'm deeply curious whether there's anything material at all in this "outline of a concept of a deal," other than it being a way for Trump to climb down and pretend he got something of a win.
