They thought J6 was IT. The thing that was going to destroy the Republicans party and brand for all time. They were going to use it to crush the party and have a cudgel to use against anyone who espoused an idea they didn’t like (“You want lower taxes? J6!”).

Didn’t work out that way as the public saw the whole h=thing for what it was: a stupid riot. It got worse for them after they directed the FBI to ignore violent criminals and instead hunt down grandmas.

That’s why the goobs on this board can’t let it go: this was it. Their Argumentative Get Out Of Jail Free card got vaporized. They’ll be butthurt about this for years.
