Here's a little irony for you:

Folarin Balogun is only eligible to play for the US team through...you guessed it, birthright citizenship! He was born in New York to Nigerian parents who lived in London but were there for a few weeks visiting relatives.

Balogun’s mother was visiting relatives in New York while she was pregnant with him. When it came time for her to return to London, the airline refused to allow her on the plane, believing she was too far along in her pregnancy.

So Balogun was born in New York, spending the first few weeks of his life there before he and his family returned to London.
