Subject: Discounts/savings
Not investing although it is saving money. I've never been a big coupon person and now that I'm married my wife handles all of that stuff. I guess most things are now electronic via their apps.
While I have an iPhone and a bunch of apps I had been avoiding getting too many restaurant apps just because I didn't want to deal with them but now being retired and with prices pretty high I thought I would try a few. I signed for accounts/email lists using a secondary email account. More than a few places gave pretty good discounts when you signed up. Anything from a free breakfast meal at a local diner we frequent to 20% off, etc. Also since my birthday was in December, a number of places gave discounts for that including $25 from Morton's (we like their happy hour bar bites). With all of the discounts/freebies, December wasn't a good month for watching calories.
I know many don't want to deal with accounts, etc. but for those who do, it is a good way to save money. We tend to eat out quite often. Usually not fast food although today we did and the app gave me 25% off.
I told my wife to hold off for a month or two so we can recover from this round of food. Fortunately her birthday isn't for a while :)
