Subject: Re: luxury of voting against interests
So I would disagree about your assertion. Mature adults realize it isn't in their best interests to set up a system where billionaires and corporations pay very little in taxes so the credit card bill rises and rises.

Its actually not helpful to think of the government debt as a credit card - personal finances are not equivalent to national budgets. That said, I would suggest for a wide range of democratic voters they would personally be much better off with republican economic policies (example - flat tax); yet consistently vote against their personal economic interests.

A similar mindset might be in the minds of republican voters - they view issues such as abortion, personal freedoms (gun laws) as much more relevant than their economic interests.
