Well, sure, Trump was the first president since 1932 to lose reelection, the House and the Senate, but, hey, no serious impact on the GOP there. And his legal jeopardy is just getting started, indicted on 34 felony counts, accused of covering up a potential sex scandal involving a porn star, and currently in court accused of rape. He still faces possible charges in Georgia, possible charges by the federal government for his role in the January 6 insurrection and for stealing classified documents.

So it's entirely possible Trump will be juggling multiple lawsuits during his campaign. His base will love it but what about everyone else? And he will be the republican nominee. If the republican party even thinks about replacing him, he will destroy them.
.

Most of this is hopeful rationalizing. It's why I generally don't engage in protracted interweb discussions. My analysis still stands. I am not trying to make myself feel good about things. Lost reelection? Some statistical dithering in Congress (which happens anyway all the time especially in the modern era)? Law suits/charges. 50% of the country is with him to some extent or another and believes what he says (Or says he believes.) And due to the way elections are run and the electoral college you don't need even that much support, so don't bring up polling data that says he has only "not 50% support." Mr Rubber, meet Mr Road.

In short, it ain't over yet.

I didn't say it was. There just might be some hope for this country yet. Maybe with a wimper. Hurray! Maybe with, hopefully, not too big of a bang. But losing it is still on the table.
