Subject: Re: Numbers like nobody’s ever seen
The same electorate thought Trump was better than Kamala Harris.
So, those were the two choices they had in 2024.
I think I'm looking at the same CNN polling that you're looking at.
It also claims that "Approval for Democratic congressional leaders stands at just 28%, below the 35% figure for their Republican counterparts."
Registered Democratic voters were polled to be more "deeply motivated" than Republicans. That's not a surprise and I think we all knew that already.
You really need to be very motivated to stand in the streets and attack federal agents because you so fervently believe they are Nazi storm troopers.
For the most part, the Republican electorate is just not that insanely irrational.
So, yes, the core completely irrational Democrat base is very dedicated, they can be counted on to have a high turnout in the mid terms. Again no surprise there.
Another factor is that generally people in the midterms want to try to balance the President against Congress so they will tend to vote for the opposite party.
So, since Republicans have such a slender House margin, it wouldn't be surprising at all if they do very well in 2026 and get a solid majority in the House.
The real question that isn't answered is, "O.K. you've got the football, now what are you going to do with it?"
I think everyone knows that ifwhen the Dems win in November, they will immediately spend the next two years impeaching Trump and getting nothing productive accomplished. I'm not sure about the Senate but I've heard it's likely a "hold" for the Republicans in 2026 because of the electoral map. Which seats are in play and up for grabs in 2026 in the Senate.
It's not going to be very smart for the Dems to win the House in 2026 only to act in such a way that they lose both houses of Congress and the White House in 2028.
The problem with a Dem House midterm victory is that, especially if it's supported by the fervent nutty core Dem base, the party will veer even MORE to the Left than it already is. That's a recipe for utter disaster in 2028 for the Dems if it plays out that way.
