I ran across a tax return of a guy who sold $150K of stocks & bitcoin for a $70K gain... and sold $140K of Trump media stock he'd bought for a 50% ($70K) loss to offset it. A big part of his annual withdrawal for income... tax free due to a losing investment. Wow.
