Subject: Re: Why auto insurance rates are high
My Civic was hit, in a parking lot, by an SUV. I returned to my car to find the top of the front, left, wheel arch caved in. Only thing that could have hit my car, that high up, would be the bumper of an SUV. The SUV driver was probably completely oblivious, until he heard the impact, because the high front end of the SUV would have completely blocked the view of my car. When I am trying to make a right turn, and an SUV or pickup, pulls up next to me, to turn left, the SUV is so tall it completely blocks my view of oncoming traffic. SUVs and pickups are not subject to the same headlight and bumper height regs as passenger cars. At night, oncoming SUV/truck headlights are right at my eye level. I have seen accidents, between a normal passenger car, and an SUV. The SUV had minimal damage, but it's bumper smashed into the car, above the car's bumper, doing major damage.

I would not be surprised if the big three, big oil, and big insurance, all persuade the government to ban everything smaller than a 5500lb SUV, in the name of "safety", so they all take more money off the Proles.
