Despite a Day One executive order titled “Restoring Free Speech and Ending Federal Censorship,” in order to win approval of the Skydance Merger with Paramount, Mad King Donald required the appointment of a government-sanctioned ‘truth arbiter’ at CBS to ensure that journalists there do not criticize his Administration or express views that conflict with its agenda.

Huh.

Well, it's not like a democracy requires a free press, a First Amendment or freedom of speech, amirite?

Imagine for a fraction of a second the right-wing outrage if presidents Obama or Biden had required such a thing for a merger approval involving, say, Fox ‘News’ and CNN, and you'll realize how completely the Trump Cult has lost its mind.

Yet no doubt conservatives here will swing by to applaud this autocratic abuse of power in 3-2-1...
