Subject: Generative AI and Microsoft Copilot
Microsoft reported earnings today, and we heard from the CEO about how rapidly their customers are adopting Generative AI assistants.

If you're interested in the numbers they reported, I've summarized those at the MSFT board here at https://www.shrewdm.com/MB?pid...

But if you're more interested in AI, which is on topic for this board, read on.

Microsoft has 2 AI assistants: Github Copilot and Office 365 Copilot.

If you're a developer, Github Copilot can generate code for you, and even find bugs in your code. For example, you can type a comment like

// Write me an API function to search for a product by name

and Copilot will generate the code for you. See the demo at https://www.youtube.com/watch?...

Github Copilot costs an extra $10/user per mo., and they already have $1.3 million developers using it. That means that Github Copilot alone is already generating about $156 million in ARR.

But that's nothing compared to Office 365 Copilot. This is the assistant that can do things like summarize any document your company keeps internally, and answer questions about it. Or take the raw meeting notes you typed up, and it will generate an email to the whole team with action items and followup tasks.

Copilot costs an additional $30/user per mo., and there already 230,000 organizations using it. They also said Office Copilot has generated 5 billion images for creators, and engaged in 5 billion question/answer chat sessions with users.
