AI does not write the code.
I don't think that's correct. My understanding is that AI can generate and debug the entirety of the code necessary to create a wide variety of software products.
Only entry-level coders would need AI to code. Experienced codes do not lean nearly as much on AI.
It's not a question of whether experienced coders need AI, but whether AI can do the coding instead of the human. Humans don't need AI to play chess well, but AI can play chess as well as a human.
The mistake I think people are making is in translating skill at writing software into skill at doing other things. Just because AI is good at coding software doesn't mean it would be good at writing a novel, even though both involve using language and computers (typically).
